Something else I picked up from the press at the weekend, it seems that the recent debate and projected legislation concerning the Civil War and its victims has provoked a curious side-effect. I had noticed a couple of times in the last few weeks that there were death notices in my newspaper referring to people who died in the Civil War, usually they are dedicated to people who have died much more recently. It appears that this publication of notices remembering those who died in the war has become a small trend, and that the notices are appearing for those that died on both sides – the side they supported is normally indicated by the newspaper in which the death notice appears (ABC and El Mundo for those on the fascist side, El País for the republicans).
